✨Travelling With My Sunflower Lanyard Part. 1 ✨🌻

Hello! And welcome back to yet another Blog post. 🌻

Within this post, I'll be talking about my experience Travelling from Manchester Airport to Dalaman Airport in Turkey and what it was like wearing the sunflower lanyard.

Although the Sunflower lanyard has been around for a while, the thought of using it Has been a new concept to me.

In the past, going through an airport, it hadn't crossed my mind to use a sunflower lanyard despite being anxious and overwhelmed in crowded places. However, joining TikTok and Instagram, my thoughts changed after seeing multiple disabled creators using the sunflower lanyard and utilising the rightly provided services.

In the days leading up to travelling to Turkey, I wasn't sure to use my sunflower lanyard, primarily out of fear of embarrassment, wondering what other people would think of me.

Despite this, I took my sunflower lanyard, only putting it on if I felt comfortable.

Arriving at arrivals, I hesitantly placed the lawn yard around my head, Hoping no one would Judge me. Surprisingly being in the summer holidays, Manchester Airport was quiet, and I didn't feel overwhelmed like usual. Although I was offered support, I declined because the airport was so quiet at first glance.

Going through security, The staff. Instantly notice my lawn yard. And offered for me to go in the assistance lane. Although I was pressured by my brother not to go because he didn't see the point of the lanyard, I went anyway and found it was only a couple of seconds quicker. Then the regular queue. From then on, I declined assistance as Manchester Airport was the quietest I've ever seen.

Arriving at Dalaman, I waited till most of the people were off the plane before departing (Something I usually do to help my anxiety). Again, the queues here were Surprisingly small and manageable. Although I could have benefited from the assistants at times, the Que was going so quickly that by the time it would have been arranged, I would have already gone through.

Travelling back from Turkey, I forgot to put on my lanyard, although it wasn't necessary at all with my flight being at two am and the airport being more of a ghost town than Manchester Airport on the way there.

Arriving in Manchester, there was a hold-up. However, I didn't think my lawn yard would have benefited the situation too much As it was a cue to baggage claim, Which in the end, went quick.

Overall, my experience with the sunflower lanyard went positively. If the airport had been a little busier, I might have been able to experience the full effects of the sunflower lanyard. However, I am also grateful that I had the experience of feeling Comfortable when I didn't need to use it and could comfortably decline.

I am travelling to Florida in August, where the airport will be busier. Because of this, I have booked special assistance within the airport and aim to continue to use my sunflower lanyard where I feel comfortable.

If you've had a positive experience using the sunflower lawn yard. Please comment below on what it was and how the sunflower lanyard helps to you.

Athina
